Restorative yoga uses props to support the body in passive poses, promoting deep relaxation and healing. It activates the parasympathetic nervous system and provides space for rest and renewal.

Origins

Developed by B.K.S. Iyengar and later refined by Judith Hanson Lasater in the 1970s, based on the therapeutic benefits of supported poses for healing and relaxation.

Belief that deep rest is as important as activity, and that healing happens when we create space for the body's natural restoration processes
