About Ashtanga Yoga

Ashtanga is a dynamic, physically demanding practice that follows a set sequence of poses linked by breath and movement. It builds strength, flexibility, and mental focus through consistent practice of the same series.

Origins

Developed by K. Pattabhi Jois in Mysore, India, based on ancient Vinyasa traditions from the Yoga Korunta text. Modern Ashtanga was popularized in the West in the 1970s.
