Super Soldier Pose is a highly complex and advanced standing balance involving a deep twist, a bind holding the extended leg, and intense stretches. It challenges balance, flexibility (hamstrings, hips, shoulders), strength, and concentration to an extreme degree.
Practice Guide
(Entry often complex, varies) Typically entered from Revolved Triangle or similar twisted stance. Example: From Revolved Triangle with right leg forward, left hand down.
Bend standing (right) knee slightly. Reach right arm underneath right thigh and behind back. Reach left arm behind back to meet right hand (bind).
Shift weight onto front (right) foot. Straighten standing leg.
Lift back (left) leg straight up towards ceiling (like Standing Split within the bind and twist).
Keep core engaged, maintain twist in torso. Gaze might be sideways or down.
This requires extreme flexibility and balance. Hold briefly. Exit very carefully, releasing bind and legs slowly.
Modifications
This pose has few simple modifications due to its complexity.
Mastery of all preparatory poses is essential.
Practice the binding and twisting elements in simpler poses first.
Work with an experienced teacher or spotter if attempting.
